Choose the Perfect Material for Your Candle Stickers

Every candle brand has its own personality. Match yours with the right finish — here are our most popular materials for candle labels, each with unique qualities that suit different aesthetics.

Matt Vinyl — The Natural Choice for Artisan Candles

A soft, non-reflective finish that gives candle labels a tactile, hand-crafted feel. Matt vinyl absorbs light beautifully, creating a warm, organic look that complements natural wax, botanical ingredients, and earthy brand aesthetics. Our most popular choice for small-batch and artisan candlemakers.

Best for: Soy candles, botanical brands, rustic packaging, farmers market labels

Gloss Vinyl — Vivid Colours That Pop

A high-shine finish that makes colours look saturated and vibrant. Gloss vinyl reflects light to create eye-catching labels that stand out on retail shelves. The smooth surface also makes them easy to wipe clean — practical for candle jars that get handled frequently.

Best for: Retail candle brands, gift sets, bright and colourful designs, shop displays

Satin Gold — Luxury That Elevates Your Brand

A warm metallic gold with an elegant satin sheen — not too glossy, not too flat. Satin gold candle stickers instantly convey luxury and craftsmanship. The metallic base shows through translucent inks for a rich, tinted-gold effect, or add white ink for crisp, opaque colours.

Best for: Luxury candles, high-end gift sets, wedding favours, boutique brands

Clear Vinyl — Let the Wax Speak for Itself

Transparent vinyl that lets the candle colour and texture show through. Clear candle stickers create a clean, modern “no-label” look where your design appears printed directly onto the glass. Perfect for minimalist brands that want the wax itself to be the hero.

Best for: Minimalist brands, coloured wax candles, see-through packaging, modern aesthetics

How to Design the Perfect Candle Sticker

Follow these practical tips to create candle labels that look professional, survive daily use, and genuinely help sell your product.

1. Measure Your Jar First

Before you start designing, know your label dimensions. Wrap a strip of paper around the jar to measure the circumference, and decide how tall you want the label. Our 3D mockup tool (above) lets you test sizes visually on real UK candle containers — use it to dial in the exact width and height before committing to a design. If you prefer working in your own software, our template generator creates a print-ready PDF with bleed, trim, and safe zone guides.

2. Design with Bleed and Safe Zones

Always extend your background artwork 3mm beyond the trim line (bleed) so there’s no white edge if the cut shifts slightly. Keep important text and logos at least 3mm inside the trim line (safe zone). Our online designer handles this automatically — you’ll see the bleed and safe areas marked on the canvas.

3. Choose Colours That Work in CMYK

Screens display RGB colour, but stickers are printed in CMYK. Bright neon greens, electric blues, and vivid purples will look more muted in print — that’s normal. Our designer shows a realistic CMYK preview so you can see exactly how colours will appear before ordering. If you need true white on a metallic or clear material, tick the white ink option — standard CMYK inks are translucent, so the material colour shows through without it.

4. Pick the Right Material for Your Brand

Matt vinyl is the most popular for candles — it feels premium and photographs well without glare (important if you sell online). Satin gold or silver adds instant luxury for high-end lines. Clear vinyl works beautifully on coloured wax where you want a “printed on glass” effect. Gloss vinyl suits retail brands that need colours to pop on shelves. Consider what your competitors use and whether you want to match or differentiate.

5. Keep Text Legible at Small Sizes

Candle labels are often small — especially on tins and votives. Use a minimum of 6pt for legal/regulatory text and 8pt for anything you want customers to comfortably read. Sans-serif fonts (like Helvetica, Montserrat, or Open Sans) stay sharper at small sizes than decorative scripts. If your brand uses a script font, reserve it for the logo or name and use a clean font for ingredients, warnings, and descriptions.

6. Include the Required Information

UK candle labelling regulations (CLP) require specific safety information on candle products, including hazard pictograms, signal words, and precautionary statements. Make sure your label design has space for these elements. Our designer supports multi-page designs — use page one for branding and page two for safety information if space is tight on a single label.

7. Use High-Resolution Artwork

Upload images at 300 DPI or higher for sharp, professional results. Low-resolution web images (72 DPI) will look pixelated in print. If you’re using our online designer, it automatically exports at 300 DPI. For uploaded artwork, PDF or PNG formats at print resolution give the best results — avoid JPEG compression on text-heavy designs as it can blur edges.

8. Think About Application

Wrapping a flat label around a curved jar introduces slight distortion — wider labels show this more. For jars with tight curves (small tins, votives), keep labels narrower so they sit flat without creasing. Rectangular labels with rounded corners peel less at the edges than sharp-cornered ones. If you’re applying labels to a surface that’s oily, dusty, or textured, consider our High Tack material for extra adhesion.

9. Order a Sample Run First

We have no minimum order — so order a small batch of 25-50 stickers first to test the design on your actual jars before committing to a large run. Check the colour, size, and how cleanly the label wraps. It’s much cheaper to tweak a design after a small test than after printing 1,000.
