How to Use Your Sticker Template

Our free sticker template generator creates print-ready files with industry-standard bleed, trim and safe zone guides built in. Every template uses a 3mm bleed and 2mm safe zone, so your stickers print perfectly every time with no white edges or trimmed text.

What Do the Guide Lines Mean?

Bleed (Red Line) — This is the outermost boundary. Extend your background colours, images and patterns all the way to this line. The 3mm bleed area gets trimmed off during cutting, but it ensures there are no white edges if the cut shifts slightly. If your background stops short of the bleed, you risk a thin white border appearing on your finished sticker.

Trim / Cut Line (Blue Line) — This is the actual finished size of your sticker. The cutting blade or die follows this line exactly. Your sticker dimensions (the width and height you entered above) correspond to this boundary.

Safe Zone (Green Line) — Keep all important text, logos and key artwork inside this line. The 2mm margin between the trim line and the safe zone gives you a safety buffer, so nothing critical gets accidentally trimmed. If text sits too close to the cut line, even a fraction of a millimetre shift during cutting can clip it.

Which File Format Should I Download?

FormatBest ForOpens In
SVGVector editing, scalable artworkAdobe Illustrator, Inkscape, Affinity Designer, CorelDRAW
EPSProfessional print workflowsAdobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW
IDMLPage layout with text-heavy designsAdobe InDesign (File → Open)
PSDPhoto-based artwork, raster editingAdobe Photoshop, Affinity Photo, GIMP (300 DPI)

If you are unsure, SVG is the best all-round choice. It opens in virtually every design application, the layers are preserved, and the file stays small because it is vector-based. Choose PSD if your artwork is photo-heavy and you prefer working in Photoshop.

Setting Up Your Artwork Step by Step

  1. Open your template in your preferred design application.
  2. Lock the guide layers (Bleed, Trim Line, Safe Zone) so you do not accidentally move them.
  3. Create a new layer for your artwork and place it below or between the guide layers.
  4. Extend backgrounds to the bleed — fill colour, images and patterns should reach the red bleed boundary on every edge.
  5. Keep text and logos inside the safe zone — nothing important should sit between the green and blue lines.
  6. Work at 300 DPI minimum — this ensures crisp text and sharp images when printed. If using the PSD template, the resolution is already set to 300 DPI.
  7. Use CMYK colour mode — RGB colours can shift when printed. Convert your artwork to CMYK before exporting to avoid unexpected colour changes, particularly with bright greens and blues.
  8. Export as a high-resolution PDF with bleed marks included when you are ready to send for printing.

Round Stickers

Round stickers are the most versatile shape for branding and packaging. They work perfectly as envelope seals, jar lid labels, coffee cup stickers, and promotional giveaways. Popular sizes include 25mm for small product labels, 51mm for logo stickers, and 76mm for laptop decals. Our round template generator creates a circular trim line with 3mm bleed extending outward and a 2mm safe zone inward, so your artwork wraps cleanly to the edge with no white border. Select “Circle” above, enter your diameter, and download a print-ready template in seconds.

  • 25mm Diameter
Envelope seals, small product labels, reward stickers
  • 38mm Diameter
Packaging seals, jar lids, thank-you stickers
  • 51mm Diameter
The most popular all-round size. Logo stickers, coffee cup labels, freebies

Square Stickers

Square stickers offer a clean, modern look that suits QR codes, social media handles, product branding, and window decals. Their equal proportions make them easy to align on packaging and they tile neatly on sticker sheets. Common sizes range from 25x25mm for subtle branding to 76x76mm for bold shelf labels. The square template includes properly scaled corner guides, and you can add a corner radius for rounded edges if your design calls for a softer finish.

  • 25mm Square
    Tiny branding, QR code stickers
  • 51mm Square
    Product labels, social media handles
  • 76mm Square
    Packaging labels, window stickers

Rectangular Stickers

Rectangular stickers and labels are the workhorse of product packaging. From bottle labels and candle wraps to address labels and food packaging, the rectangular format gives you the most space for text, ingredients lists, barcodes, and branding. Popular dimensions include 89x51mm (business card size) for name tags, 100x50mm for bottle labels, and 148x105mm for large product labels. Our rectangular templates support custom corner radii, so you can create anything from sharp-cornered shipping labels to soft rounded-corner product stickers.

  • 50 x 25mm
    Address labels, return labels
  • 89 x 51mm
Business card size. Name tags, product info labels
    Product labels, social media handles
  • 100 x 50mm
    Bottle labels, candle labels, cosmetics
  • 148 x 105mm (A6)
    Large product labels, warning labels

Oval Stickers

Oval stickers bring a traditional, premium feel to product labelling. They are a popular choice for artisan food packaging, cosmetic bottles, candle labels, jam jars, and handmade goods where a softer silhouette complements the product. Common oval sizes include 40x30mm for small jar lids and 76x51mm for bottle wraps. The oval template generates an elliptical trim line with bleed and safe zone contours that follow the curve precisely, ensuring your artwork prints with clean edges all the way around.

Jam jar labels, handmade product labels
  • 76 x 51mm

Frequently ASKED Questions

Common questions about using our free sticker template generator, setting up artwork for print and preparing files for professional sticker printing.

Bleed is the extra area around your sticker design that extends beyond the cut line. When stickers are cut, there can be tiny variations in the cut position. The bleed ensures your background colour or image extends far enough that no white edges appear even if the cut shifts by a fraction of a millimetre. Our templates use a standard 3mm bleed on all edges, which is the industry standard for professional sticker and label printing in the UK.

The safe zone is a 2mm margin inside the trim line. Any text, logos or important artwork placed inside this boundary is guaranteed not to be trimmed during cutting. Think of it as your “no-go zone” for anything you cannot afford to lose. If your text or logo sits between the safe zone and the trim line, even a tiny shift during cutting could clip it.

For professional sticker printing, your artwork should be at least 300 DPI (dots per inch). This ensures sharp text and detailed images at the actual print size. Lower resolutions will appear blurry or pixelated when printed. If you download the PSD template from our generator, the resolution is already set to 300 DPI at the correct physical dimensions, so you can start designing straight away.

Always design in CMYK for print. RGB is used for screens and contains colours that cannot be reproduced by a printer, particularly bright neons, vivid greens and electric blues. If you design in RGB, your colours may look duller or shift when printed. Most design applications let you convert via Edit → Convert to Profile in Photoshop, or File → Document Color Mode → CMYK in Illustrator.

Yes. Enter any width and height in the generator above to create a template at your exact dimensions. We support rectangle, square, circle and oval shapes. For die-cut stickers with a completely custom outline, generate a rectangle template at your maximum dimensions, then create your cut path inside the template using the pen tool in your design application.

We recommend exporting your finished artwork as a high-resolution PDF with bleed included. In Illustrator, use File → Save As → PDF and tick “Use Document Bleed Settings”. In Photoshop, flatten your layers and save as PDF at maximum quality. In InDesign, use File → Export → PDF (Print) and include the bleed in the Marks and Bleeds panel. Alternatively, you can upload your native AI, EPS or PSD file directly.
